![]() Website Contact: info@pineygir.com Pop icon, British game show contestant, and industry queen, Angela Penhaligon (aka Piney Gir) fits all the bills. The London (via Kansas) beauty has honed a style both unique and comforting, an electro-indie-pop sound that is as at home on a top 40 chart as immersed in an elitist indie comp tape. Playing live with a keytar and a smooth porcelain doll face, Piney hits country western, 50šs romance, gothic darkness, choice covers, and folk dance. Cliched or not, Piney Gir really does offer something for everyone. The former Vic Twenty frontwoman released her debut album earlier this year with UK label Truck Records. Peakahokahoo, now released in North America by Greyday, contains rich, beautiful vocals that are as refined and smooth as a roll of silk but can give way at any time to frenzied yelps of discontent. Fractured and mysterious, but always touched by a sly sense of fun, her charismatic performances and musicianship have earned her supporting slots with acts like Simple Kid, Erasure, and Cosey Fanni Tutti (from Throbbing Gristle). Piney will be hitting the states in Spring 2005 for a full US tour, and is currently playing shows around the UK. ![]() MP3s: Greetings, Salutations, Goodbye from Peakahokahoo K-I-S-S-I-N-G from Peakahokahoo ![]() ![]() |
