![]() Website Contact: southerly@greydayrecords.com Southerly began in June of 2003, as many projects do, on an Otari four track reel-to-reel in bedrooms and basements, releasing short runs of hand packaged cassette tapes on singer/songwriter Krist Krueger's previous imprint (dharmakayamusic/DKM). In August of 2003, faced with a decision to either renew his apartment lease or hit the road and tour full time, Krueger chose to hit the vast North American highways, learning the ropes as he went. In 2004 Krueger teamed up with local Portland, OR recording engineer and producer Robert Bartleson to record the first full length, Best Dressed And Expressionless, for Dead Letter Records, later buying the album from them and re-releasing it with Fall Records, the Baltimore, MD label that previously released a split LP with The Conversation. In 2006, Southerly reformed as a full band. No longer a solo singer/songwriter project, the band now features players from the recordings, including engineer Robert Bartleson on bass, Ryan Heise on drums, and Casey Montgomery on guitar, accordion, organ and more. Southerly is currently gearing up for the release of their sophomore full-length, Storyteller & the Gossip Columnist, due out in May, as well as prepping for two full US tours and a proposed European tour in 2007. ![]() MP3s: Soldiers from Storyteller and the Gossip Columnist How to be a Dreamer from Storyteller and the Gossip Columnist ![]() ![]() |
